Updated 6/28/16: Special Visit from Dharma Teacher Trish Thompson Weds. July 6th

Greetings from the Open Heart Mindfulness Community in Green Bay! You are invited to a special half day of mindfulness in July.

Dharma Teacher Trish Thompson, in Thich Nhat Hanh’s lineage, will be joining us on Wednesday, July 6, from 3:30 – 7:30 pm at the Mauthe Center on the UW Green Bay campus.

Trish lives in Vietnam, and leads annual trips throughout that country in the footsteps of Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) and other Buddhists. (David Zeman has been on that tour.) Last year she began offering a trip that combines touring with actual work; Margaret Alexander has been on that trip twice now.

At Thich Nhat Hanh’s request, Trish’s work includes reaching out to American veterans of the war with Vietnam. Several veterans have been on her tours, and she’s also in touch with other veterans working in Vietnam on projects such as the improvement of children’s health and the eradication of Agent Orange.

We are honored to once again be invited to share a peace walk vigil at the annual longest night homelessness prayer service Monday, December 21st at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay. We walk for peace, understanding and compassion. We walk for those who no longer can walk, and we walk to strengthen our connection to each other and with the earth.

This is the announcement from the Parish:
7th Annual Interfaith Memorial Service for Those Who Have Died Homeless December 21, 7 pm. This local event, the 7th annual interfaith prayer service sponsored by the Shelter’s Ministry Team, is held on the longest night of the year, the first day of winter, to remember, to reflect, and to bring awareness of people dying on the streets while homeless in the richest country in the world. The service is hosted by St. John the Evangelist Parish.
